| 188845 | 2003-11-03 03:23:00 | No one ever said life is fair. :D The bigger the software is, the slower it runs. The kernel of Windows XP is probably 5 times bigger than W98's. Your computer isn't 5 times faster. |

| 188849 | 2003-11-03 13:56:00 | 98 is smaller and uses less resources plus you may have serious software issues especially if you have installed all the patches from M/soft newer doesnt always mean better or faster | kiwibeat (304) | ||
| 188850 | 2003-11-04 01:18:00 | So have you done the 'obvious' and checked for spyware on your computer ??. If you don't have them then go find and install BOTH Ad-Aware and Spybot (both free). These remove all the nasty tracking cookies etc etc that you end up getting on your system. But check the set up on them before running and remove the autoclean - then you can check what there is before removing manually (very important if you use Kazaa etc because it will kill their cookie also).I did this recently on my mums computer and found almost 200 nasty's - and afterward you could see a dramatic difference (faster cursor movement / opening of programs etc). Another problem could be your antivirus. Some (like Norton & McAffe) have all that other stuff running in the background - Crash guard, Clean Sweep etc all help to bog the system down. Oh - and get the Service Pack 1 patch if you have not done so already - it fixes (yet another) one of M.soft's errors that comes with SP1. |

| 188852 | 2003-11-04 07:30:00 | Think of it like the Melbourne Cup. The winner is likely to be the lightest (W98) jockey on the strongest horse(Mhz+). Although a smart(resource management) heavy jockey(XP) may win on an even bigger horse(Mhz+++) if the course is long enough(huge program) !!! | Rod ger (316) | ||
