188831 2003-11-03 01:17:00 Card is Geforce 2MX 400 64MB. System: 1.7MHz celeron CPU, 512MB. RAM, OS W2K. Upgrading from Viper V300 2MB.
Pluged card into AGP slot, powered up and got nothing, but heard some beeps from case. changed setting in BIOS from PCI to AGP. Same result. Looked at install CD, not much help. The install instructions just said to pug in and power up with CD in.
Thanks in advance for any help.

188832 2003-11-03 01:31:00 Can you give more description on the beep code :P

Unfortunately that code tells some people stories and whether it's just the card isn't sitting right and isn't present to being a faulty RAM on the graphics card, the card could be at fault.

I'm assuming the Viper V300 2MB is onboard? Do you have the motherboard manual? You may have to find a way to disable onboard before you can plug the card in, switches on the motherboard, setting on the BIOS etc.

188834 2003-11-03 02:01:00 Yes Viper is onboard in PCI slot with Geforce in AGPslot. I just switch the monitor cable. I have the motherboard manual. The only thing I can find says "for some add-on cards, for example graphics adapters and network adapters, you have to install drivers and software before you can begin using the add-on card. I tried installing driver when using Viper V300, nothing happened. Dennis007 (4823)
188835 2003-11-03 02:02:00 It's best to uninstall the existing video adapter first of all before removing the old card and fitting a new one, and then set a Standard VGA driver.

Hopefully windows will then detect the new card, and at that stage you can install the new software.

188836 2003-11-03 03:45:00 Thanks Terry, that was the answer. I uninstalled the old card from Device Manager and everything was OK from there on. Dennis007 (4823)
