Gaming is the whole reason I would go to a faster internet connection, so that kinda sucks.

Well I have been trailing Woosh little while, and the average ping times I get are around 300ms (sometimes over 1,000ms), as mentioned above, good for leeching, but no so good for gaming.

I remember talking to the Woosh guys at the ICE expo last May (back then they were still walker wireless), and they had lag problems back then, they told me it was a software bug and tat it would be rectified soon, six months on and they seem to have made no progress. I called the Woosh helpdesk only last week and while they acknowledged the problem existed they couldn’t give me a eta on when it was going to be fixed.

Woosh would make a good intermediate step if they could fix the lag problem, however products like http://www.roamad.com/ look more promising.

Thats my two cents worth anyway.

188977 2003-11-13 03:20:00 Looks like it is only an alternative for narrowband jetstream. 250kb/s is nothing to write home about as I get 450kb/s on Jetstream 1000 for the same basic price. Service area is still very patchy as well, I entered some close to city suburban addresses and there was no service available.

The 1 Gb cap is no problem for me and if I were a gamer, the Jetstream Games realm would be a better proposition with much lower ping times.

I am inherently distrustful of wireless data as it is subject to external influences such as the recent solar storm, though to be fair I did not hear of any major disruption of services.

Cheers
