189268 2003-11-04 21:39:00 I have been trying to sort this laptop out for some time,it has random blue screens with stop error code,I have reformatted and reloaded all software in last few days and have had two events.
#1 while starting up stop error 0x0000000a with more in brackets ( 0xfdaae62c,0x00000002,0x00000001,0x804fa2e1)
#2 while doing AdAware scan stop error 0x000000c5 with more in brackets(0xf61474c5,0x00000002,0x00000001,0x080534 de3).
Is the code in brackets the faulty hardware or software, these problems were occurring before reformat, and may have been happening when WIn ME was installed and we blamed ME as the problem.
Any help thanks,
John.

189270 2003-11-05 02:00:00 Thanks Jim B I have had a look at the site,is it normal to get a different code each time, dose this point to a hardware problem against a driver problem,
John.

189271 2003-11-05 03:41:00 It looks to me like a hardware fault, most probably faulty RAM.

Download MemTest (http://www.memtest86.com/)

Chuck it on a floppy and boot from the floppy disk - this will test your RAM and identify any faults.

189273 2003-11-05 21:02:00 I have done the Mem Test and it showed some errors the worst was test 3 with 259 errors, how do you tell which error is a sign of faulty ram.
Thanks,
john.

189274 2003-11-06 00:07:00 any error is probably faulty ram (it can mean the ram is incompatible with your board, but its not really relevant here)

RMA the whole thing if its still under warranty.

189275 2003-11-09 08:38:00 An update and a thanks to wtr for the advice about down loading memory test,I removed one ram at a time and carried out test, one failed badly as before and stalled during test and failed to start windows after test, the second one passed test and stared up fine to desktop, all I need now is someone to buy replacement laptop ram from,it is different size to normal PC ram.

189276 2003-11-09 08:44:00 Yup, LapTop RAM is usually quite different to PC RAM. It's also usually substantially more expensive.

Best bet is to either contact the manufacturer, or a LapTop specialist like Portables Plus (http://www.portablesplus.co.nz)

Glad to have helped.

Cheers also to Jim B who directed me to this thread.
