189245 2003-11-05 09:00:00 Thank you for that, Winston. After reading what you posted, I remembered I read it in the Reuters Morning Digest newsletter (30/10/2003).

This (www.reuters.com) is the article in full.

Currently it is mianly geared towards broadcast, military, and communications technologies.

189246 2003-11-05 09:11:00 One wonders how agent would have got on if you had not reminded him.
I say I read similar months ago and still waiting.

189247 2003-11-05 20:09:00 sorry to be even more off topic, but the other month "Scientific America" had an interesting article about nano-technology hard drives Budda (2736)

I can imagine how that will work. Built-in life span. After a set period of time (like once the warranty has expired) a command is sent to the all the nanites and the eat the drive ....
Biggles (121)
189249 2003-11-06 02:53:00 and yea all the nanites did gather to watch the ritual sacrifice of their god "Hard Drive" and indulge in the orgy of eating and mutual self destruction that often accompanies this great event and sadly this is why the nanites died out.
( to add an olden day style theme to this add "eth" at the end of every word )

189250 2003-11-07 07:19:00 Ummmmm...Lissen fellas

All processors since the beginning of (electronic) computing time have worked at speeds very close to that of light. Propagation time in semiconductors may have slowed the electrons down a bit, but they still moved pretty darned fast.

I think you may be confusing the electronic operation of a CPU with the clock speed that determines the data rate. That may be an inelegant explanation, but I think you will get the gist of what I am trying to say.

Cheers

189251 2003-11-07 08:02:00 The Govt. wants to microchip Dogs.

Won't be long before they want to do us too. Moves are already afoot for DNA samples.

Wires attached to the eyeballs will be attached to the super micro chip and the Govt will see every little thing we do. More wires from the lungs and tax every breath.

Ooooooops more wires from the bowels and urinary tract = more taxes.

The future just doesn't bear thinking about.

Don't say it can't happen. Some of you will be young enough to actually see things like this. When you people ( the young ones ) get to be my age you can look back on this and think "Elephant told me so."
