189467 2003-11-05 20:42:00 I've got Mandrake 9 (not yet installed) - is it possible to upgrade it to 10 with a patch?

Thx

189468 2003-11-05 21:37:00 I have no clue but there is a linux questions forum for beginers etc here
www.linuxquestions.org
hope this can help you.

189469 2003-11-06 00:44:00 I suppose, if you know someone who has a full (unused ;-)) installation of M9 and one of M10, and does a diff on them. :D

A new version of a distribution is a new version, not a patched copy of the previous one.

However, if you install M9, you can probably take the M10 CDs and do an upgrade, which will keep the settings you have made.

189470 2003-11-06 00:51:00 Thx Graham. I've since learned from the forum mentioned above that there is no 10 (can't recall how I got the information that there was), and latest build is 9.2.

Anyway, the reason I wanted to know about an upgrade, as opposed to a full version, is that it would be reasonable to assume that an upgrade would be a lot smaller download than a full standalone version, specially cos I don't have access to the latest version's disks.

So... I've come to the conclusion that I may just as well stick with 9.0

189471 2003-11-06 01:16:00 9.1 was regarded as a huge advance on 9.0, so it may be worth getting it anyway - it was the first distro I tried and it was brilliant. stratters (2587)
