189212 2003-11-04 20:43:00 Want a utility to mount image files (.ISO files) as virtual CD-ROM devices under Windows XP? Well Microsoft has an unsupported utility called Virtual CD-ROM Control Panel for Windows XP that will let you mount image files (.ISO files) as virtual CD-ROM devices. Using this utility means you can copy a CD image to your hard drive and XP will see it as if it were a CD drive. The link is to the executable file Virtual_CD-ROM (www.winxpnews.com)

Cheers, Babe.

189215 2003-11-05 04:38:00 I believe it is www.alcohol-software.com (http://www.alcohol-software.com).

There is also a neat, smaller program called Daemon Tools, available from www.daemon-tools.cc (www.daemon-tools.cc).

189217 2003-11-05 05:29:00 Alcohol costs, but its worth every cent, especially if you find a download for ClonyXXL!!
Daemon tools is free isnt it?

Linux can mount .mds, .iso, and others natively ;-)

189218 2003-11-05 05:55:00 how? ilikelinux (1418)
189219 2003-11-05 05:58:00 oh.. let me guess.

in bash:

mount (filename) /mnt/(mountpoint)
ilikelinux (1418)
189220 2003-11-05 17:52:00 mount -t iso9660 -o loop /home/ilikelinux/cd_image.iso /mnt/image1/

Obviously this assumes you have /home/ilikelinux/cd_image.iso (Change it to your ISO location.. or MDS's seem to work too).

/mnt/image1/ is where you'll be mounting it obviously, and again you can chop and change this to suit your needs.

Chill.
