189818 2003-11-06 21:12:00 I have asked my ISP (Slingshot) repeatedly concerning a security issue with "Slipstream Xcellerator". They just send me automated E-Mail & wan't to charge me $2.00 to phone them about a possible fault in THEIR system!
Just how arrogant can you get!
The problem is this:-
I run ME with Zone Alarm, & XP with Sygate Firewalls.
When I run the security test on the Sygate Web site, with "Slipstream" turned off all ports are blocked to Trojans etc. With "Slipstream" on, all ports are closed but not blocked & are vulnerable.
There seems to be a security risk. Slingshot have been given a week to respond but are not interested. The pity is that "Slipstream" in conjunction with "Jetstart" is brilliant. I have the OFF SWITCH!

Any ideas on this?

You might want to try the Gibson Research Corporation ShieldsUP! grc.com a try & see if you get the same thing, also "closed ports " are also fine.

189820 2003-11-06 22:09:00 Thanks for that.

The test shows very little difference between on & off with "slipstream"
on slingshot & "Jetstart" on "Orcon"

Maybe the Sygate test is pesimistic (spelling!).

I still think the Slingshot customer relations stinks, even if the product is good!!
