Click on Start, find the folder containing the Open Office shortcuts on the Start menu, right click on the Text Document icon, choose Shortcut then drag that shortcut icon onto your desktop. It would be helpful to have no windows covering the desktop when performing this operation. |

There should be a setting somewhere to make that automatic without prompting you. I will check these things later when I have more time unless someone else can advise first. |

If you have a look under Tools > Options > Load/Save > General, you will find the settings to remove the prompt and also change the default autosave time amount . > no box to click as such? for auto word count JohnD has given you instructions on how to access the word count - I can't see how to make it a single click action via the toolbar, but still it only takes seconds to pull up the statistics dialog box . :) > so its no better than works? OpenOffice Suite is heaps better than Works with all the applications available (and for free :D) . But if your main desire is to have a "one-click" auto-word count, then you might want to consider buying the full stand-alone version of MS Word :) |

| 189628 | 2003-11-07 07:00:00 | I will have to have a look around and a fiddle in OO for you Beetle, but I would have thought you would be able to grab a shortcut icon from the Toolbar customisation like you can in Office. But if Jen hasn't found one maybe there isn't one. I see that you can do macros though, so let me have a play around and see what I can do. Not tonight though, I'm too tired, too sore...... and I can't see straight. :p :D | Susan B (19) | ||
