Have you tried uninstalling NAV and re-installing? You might find you get a free years sub. It works when you re-formatt, so worth a go.

189725 2003-11-07 08:50:00 Latest version of norton doesn' do that anymore, the program needs to be activated the same sort of way XP does.

And i tried ignoring it and it was crippled to 3 months.....

189726 2003-11-07 08:57:00 Does NAV use Cdilla? I you find a strange little entry in your registry that goes something approximately like C0fy5, thats it and, deleting that won't do you any good.

And you don't think that it has already been hacked by the crackers?
All things like that do is annoy the cr*p out of the people that actually buy the software legally and those that priate it don't care because they get round it anyway.

Thats why I have not upgraded to 2004 and probably won't. I will stick with 2003 which from the looks of things does not do much less than 2004.

heh? . . . who cares what 'cracker's are upto,the discussion isn't about illigal software .

besides,i wouldn't use any norton product even if it was free .

Contradiction there . You had it installed with your sentence above .

189730 2003-11-07 14:20:00 Not quite,i installed it on a clients pc. :D

Which is why i had to backtrack real quick when i realised i had crippled his 100 dollar software to 3 months.

As far as im concerned the best thing you can do to a system running nortons anything is to format it.........

189731 2003-11-07 15:23:00 Well AVG seems perfectly adequate to me . I think tho that Norton's is really the best AV software around - whether it's worth the costs tho is another thing .

I've never had a virus or trojan or any other crud, and all I use is AVG - but I think that my carefullness is the reason .

The only time I really rely on an anti-virus programme is when I've downloaded a programme, or when I accept a floppy or CD with stuff from customers - a quick scan, then I feel safe .

189732 2003-11-07 17:59:00 Another way is to sign up with an ISP that scans all mail. My Nortons has not found a virus since Ihig removes them all first. JJJJJ (528)
