189633 2003-11-06 07:30:00 I've just d/l mozilla and am having a surf around with it. It seems that pages are taking longer to load than with ie. i have a p3 500 with 256MB ram and XP home. Could it be jet______ (whatever its called today 128k) going slow? It seems to be lately. Any comments? wotz (335)
189634 2003-11-06 08:57:00 If you are surfing the same pages as you normally do with Internet Explorer it could be likely that the pages load faster in IE because the graphics would be stored in the cache. After you have used Mozilla for a day or two it should be a little faster once its own cache begins to fill up. tommy (2826)

Do you mean JetStream starter :) (128K)??

I am also on JetStream starter; it seems fine on my end (ISP: Quicksilver)

189636 2003-11-06 18:49:00 OK, I've given it a go. The pop up killer is great, but there are a couple of things I don't like. When loading PF1 site (as an axample) is resizes the screen 2 or 3 times as it loads the advert on the right of the page. It is distracting. I just checked IE and it does it once, to a lesser extent. It has never bothered me before.

On www.stuff.co.nz I find that the font size changes between pages, which is annoying.

Are there any answers for it? If not I will be ditching it.

189637 2003-11-06 20:49:00 I don't seem to get either of those effects. With PF1 its just the one resize of the main table when the ad loads.

With stuff.co.nz are you using the "increase text size" option?

189638 2003-11-07 01:02:00 I use Opera mainly but mozilla firebird works fine on the stuff site for me kiwibeat (304)
189639 2003-11-07 02:14:00 Iv'e been using Opera, Mozilla 1.4, and Mozilla Firebird 0.7 lately and have to say that Mozilla Firebird 0.7 loads pages the fastest. Opera takes the longest, and is my least fav browser because of all the standard buttons, address bars, sidebars, and that annoying banner. Mozilla is fine, but takes a little while to load sometimes, but Firebird 0.7 loads extremely quick, and has a simply to use interface like IE 6. I never use IE 6 anymore, but if I had to make a comparison I think it loads quicker than Opera and Mozilla, but a little but slower than Mozilla Firebird. I'm also on a Jetstart 128 kb/s connection btw. Lightspeed (4713)
189640 2003-11-07 03:00:00 If you like Mozilla, why not do the whole thing and get the world's best browser - Netscape Navigator

Apparently Telecom have had some issues recenty with their various ISP's that contract to them - Jetstream Starter/Jetstart is now supposed to be better, so if you don't still have sluggish problems, perhaps it was due to Telecom/Your ISP.

I'd be inclined to say that Mozilla is the better of the two, that is just my opinion though. Netscape after all is based on Mozilla so the code is older and has AOL junk built into it.

Yeah you could be right - one fine day I'll get round to trying out Mozilla and Opera. But I suspect there's several features that Netscape will have that Mozilla et al don't
