190321 2003-11-09 07:14:00 Is their software any good and do you need it...... They have a defrag prog which sounds enticing.........!!! but what do you think...... olldaddy76 (2539)
190322 2003-11-09 08:30:00 The built-in XP defrag utility is actually written by a third party (Executive Software International) and is quite good.

It should be as effective as the PCMESH item in my opinion, with the added advantage that its free and already part of XP

Microsoft's source code is proprietary and closed - no-one except those working at Microsoft can view it (with the exception of the few governments Microsoft is showing their code to). So, while it may make it harder for manufacterers to make effective or better applications than Microsofts ones, it still is possible...

190326 2003-11-09 19:46:00 ?????

there are plenty of programs which are far better than the MS ones. you do not need to know the MS source to make programs that will run on windows. only thing you need is time and money!
