190245 2003-11-09 03:38:00 Hi,

If I've got a CD-RW with data already written onto the cd, what happens if i add more data to it? Does it over-write the existing data, or write "besides" the data?

cheers,
caffy

PS: I could experiment this myself, but haven't got a spare CD-RW to muck around with :)

190246 2003-11-09 04:51:00 if your useing udf writer eg nero incd then it will simply add to it. you can delete files of it if need be.

if your useing the cd writer software eg nero burning rom then i think you have to format the disk each time. someone may no for sure its been ages since ive done it this way.

190247 2003-11-09 06:55:00 Normally you would get a dialogue box which would ask whether you want to overwrite the existing data. Naturally, if you're updating you would. If you want an additional file you need to save it with a new n ame. Shortstop (632)
190248 2003-11-10 02:46:00 if you have a closed session when burning data then you have to reformat the cdrw if you did a open session then additional data can be added to the cdrw next to the existing data till it is full kiwibeat (304)
190249 2003-11-10 02:52:00 you can reburn and format about 1000x so they say so good idea to experiment with cdrws especially if your software is playing up or you are not sure what you are doing kiwibeat (304)
190250 2003-11-10 14:41:00 Format a CDRW in Nero to serve as a floppy more or less, 600Mb free to use and simple to write back to. Just great. Cheap media for temp. files peter.jonsson (3024)
