2013-08-01 10:09:00 | My HP laptop is plugged in and switched on at the wall. The message with the power icon in the notification area says "97%, plugged in, not charging". Power is obviously getting to the machine as the battery level is not decreasing, so what does this message mean - that the charger is stuffed but is able to pass through power? | Tony (4941) | |
2013-08-01 11:07:00 | I think it means the battery has lost some capacity... | pcuser42 (130) | |

This happened to my friends Laptop charger a while back [Got stuffed], so you could do what they did and get one of those adapter ones that are form KERIO www.kerio.com.tw OR if you still have warranty, take it to the store and get them to check it out. Otherwise NZed has it's good ol' CGA (If it applies) www.consumer.org.nz though I'm not totally sure on that front. |

2013-08-01 19:51:00 | 97 - 98% and "not charging" is quite normal in my experience.I'll run it not plugged in for a while and then see if it brings the battery back up. | Tony (4941) | |
2013-08-01 21:24:00 | It will, but probably only to 97-98%. Not something that's worrying, just the battery can only be charged to 97% of its max theoretical charge - max charge of batteries decrease over time, so not surprising. | Nick G (16709) | |
2013-08-05 01:58:00 | I ran the laptop on batteries till it got down to 80%, then plugged it in. It started charging and is now showing 100%. So panic(?) over. Thanks for all the input.

2013-08-05 06:41:00 | Mine often sits at 97-99% charged. I don't think the charger kicks in until you get under a predefined %. | Jen (38) | |
