1350272 2013-07-31 19:40:00 Sorry if this is posted somewhere else but i searched 9 forums without an answer before I signed up here to ask this

Buid
AMD 8 core 4 . 4ghz processor
Asus Replic of gamers sabertooth MOBO
amd gaming series RAM 2 sets of 8x2 ram sets . total of 32 gigs
SSD hard drive
Windows 8 PROFESSIONAL

This should be more than the information anyone may need .

I have tested all 4 sticks of RAM in 3 different machines, each read and pass

When I boot up windows 8 PRO it shows 32 gigs of RAM (16 useable) WWWHHHYYYYY!!!!????? I can't figure it out .

Windows 8 pro support up to like 500 gigs of RAM all the memory is good .

I tried one stick in every slot and windows 8 read as 8 gig total each time in every slot, I did that with all 4 sticks and they all ready in each slot when alone as 8 gig
I tried to sticks in the same color slots reads 16 gigs total, swap to the other 2 slots reads 16 gigs total, add all 32 gigs right back to 16 useable

I checked in bio memory mapping is enabled
I triedn increasing the page file to 32gig no go there either

Please help

Try the options further down the page maybe.

Also are you sure it's professional and not home premium? premium has a 16Gb limit.

1350274 2013-07-31 21:30:00 Can you try something please -- Download and run cpu-z (www.cpuid.com) (Download links on the right) - under the memory tab, how much is showing ?

The reason for asking is, several people ( OK Many) are having the same problems with that board and 32GB RAM, a common problem is either outdated BIOS, so it needs updating or the CPU actually wont allow the full 32GB to be seen, especially with AMD Processors, and some earlier models of Intels.

Something else, what speed is the memory set to run at ?

1350275 2013-07-31 21:43:00 100% sure its pro at 64bit Windows 8 reads it as such etc and the paper work and the order sheet all confirm i didn't click on the wrong thing.

CPU-Z sees 32 gigs as does prime 95 and several other test programs within the OS.

Speed is 1600 and we set it in the BIOS also and even followed ASUS direction on adjust core voltage etc. still a no go.

1350276 2013-07-31 21:44:00 dugimodo I have already done all the steps in that article even though said article is for windows 8. nothing helped. Christech1 (17135)
1350277 2013-07-31 22:24:00 Hmmmmmmmmm OK your reply covers most of the common causes ( nice to see someone actually trying to sort the problem themselves for once :) )

Please check one setting, it shouldn't be ticked but you never know -- go to the start screen, type in msconfig - Select it and open - Under the boot Tab/ Advanced Options button - top right make sure Maximum Memory is unticked. ( everything should be unticked in that window.)

1350278 2013-07-31 22:44:00 Whats the exact model of the sabertooth board ?? there are several versions relating to the one you gave all with different specs.

One I'm looking at doesn't actually show your memory in the compatible list.

1350279 2013-07-31 23:14:00 Has this just happened - i.e. has it previously had the full 32GB available? Is it a new PC build so has never 'worked' properly? Have you moved from one OS to another - if so was the previous OS similarly affected? Have you got the latest BIOS for your Sabertooth? Which edition is it? inphinity (7274)
1350280 2013-07-31 23:21:00 Yes the box is unchecked, the sabertooth model is 90fx r2.0 I just looked in the page the only RAM on its "approved vendor" list is some Gskill. this is dumb because I bought the AMD ram in a bundle from amd with the processor and board etc, guess they dont expect many people to use 32gig, so now i gotta try and send back the 32 gigs i have and order the Gskill kind and see where i stand, unless someone here knows how to make the OS use it all, SPu-Z sees all 32 gigs as does windows, but in BIOS it doesn't so that should have been my clue but i never heard of certain brand RAM only working in certain boards. Oh well worth a try, just clicked my own link and corfirmed the article is for windows 7, not 8. But that doesn't help you anyway.
Sorry I have nothing else, but you made me notice mine only says 7.88 usable out of 8 which I never saw before. Weird (actually it might be onboard Video stealing the rest in my case, I enabled it to test something a while back)
