1326781 2013-02-08 04:29:00 So what are you saying happens? Number port fails and it sits in limbo and goes nowhere?

Nope, that's not how it happens. As somebody who does number porting for a living, I know :p

1326782 2013-02-08 04:31:00 To be honest what you're best-off doing is rolling a second DSL line, naked or clothed, makes no difference, then porting your number *afterwards* to this new one. The problem is that Orcon so tightly try and integrate their "Genius" line with their router and internet that you can't use a standard SIP device with it.

Any other provider, such as 2talk, will.

In fact, I'll happily vouch for 2talk, they're fantastic! Support is pretty much email only, but aside from that, their network is *real* good! Has to be, because it was built ground-up for VoIP.

1326783 2013-02-08 04:43:00 Rather only have the one bill rather than split it between two companies.

So tell me, if the number port failed, what happens?

Also don't really understand this bit.
Do you mean pay for two connections?

1326784 2013-02-08 05:00:00 I interpreted that as swap your internet connection but not phone to a new ISP. icow (15313)
1326785 2013-02-08 05:49:00 I can't do that net and phone with Orcon is fully integrated. DeSade (984)
1326786 2013-02-08 08:13:00 No I mean for the first month, setup new internets, THEN port your number. Yes, pay two bills, for one month.

If a port fails, nothing happens, that's what I said... HOWEVER what you've got to worry about is them changing your internet and cutting that. Either way you'll be able to port your number eventually from Orcon.
