1326771 2013-02-08 02:58:00 New flatmate? ;) KarameaDave (15222)
1326772 2013-02-08 02:59:00 Not an option... DeSade (984)
1326773 2013-02-08 03:11:00 Forgive me De Sade, but I would be interested to know if there is something I don't about actrix that your flatmate does.

It is a matter of preference after all, but only when comparing quality with quality.

Actrix and the other ISP mentioned have come up second and first in the survey by consumer, has great reviews all round and I have never read anything but good on them. No throttling, NZ based and committed company...

I give up.:groan:

1326774 2013-02-08 03:15:00 They were one of NZs first ISPs. Think they started up something like 1987. I think the problem with the younger set here is because they don't have a flash home page they are no good, and also because they don't have a big range of plans.

Maybe they thought their set of plans were enough to confuse an old codger like me... :)

1326776 2013-02-08 03:30:00 Ok the flatmate has veto'ed Actrix........... ^%#&^%$%&$%^*&&^*

1326777 2013-02-08 03:45:00 They've consistently won top-of-the-line with the NZ Consumer Mag, year in and year out. Aside from not specifically being the cheapest, they're literally one of, if not the best, in every way possible! Chilling_Silence (9)

Number porting.

She insists as one of her "deal breakers" that we keep the same phone number
Actrix cannot guarantee successful number porting and she will not risk it.

1326779 2013-02-08 04:15:00 Nobody can, in fact a lot of number porting can take more than one try. Tell her to suck it up and give it a go. If it fails, it'll stay with her current provider, no harm no foul. Chilling_Silence (9)
1326780 2013-02-08 04:19:00 No it won't.
Our current provider is Orcon running a VoIP phone through the Genius.
No Orcon, No Genius and no phone line.

So a port is essential.

However can you point to some writing that shows ports are not guaranteed that I can point her too as ammo.
