My Great Uncle was head butler at the manor house mentioned (Eastwell near Ashford Kent) and I did some building work there in 1999 when the old stable block was converted to accommodation gary67 (56)

Thanks Gary, through the BBC link, I'm now a paid up member of the Richard III Society. My interest in this is not so much in Richard, but in an ancestor who was Chancellor of the Exchequer and Archbishop of York in the years spanning before and after Richard's reign. I'm hoping to fill in some gaps in the family history.
