1349886 2013-07-26 05:26:00 I think it would be a huge mistake to use Xtra email - or Yahoo email as it really is.

Get a gmail account, then do your email to everyone.

If you're changing ISP & email adress, dont go with the turd that is yahoo/xtra email. Honestly, where do I start to list the ongoing issues
Get a yahoo email adress , or even a MS freebie email instead. Anything but .

1349888 2013-07-26 07:36:00 My question is why?? You can keep your Orcon email address for life. Just need to change the SMTP settings after you change over. I changed earlier this year and we still have all our Orcon email addresses..
Agree. Orcon used to be my ISP many years ago but I still use the address from back then as my main email address as it is valid for life.

Just change your SMTP settings in your email client to Xtra's details to allow you to send your emails and save yourself a lot of bother.

If you keep your Orcon email address you don't need to change anything to receive emails as they will just carry on being sent to your Orcon email address as before and Orcon and Xtra will send them on to you . Right?

But because you will be using Xtra as your ISP you cannot send emails via Orcon . Don't ask me why you can do one but not the other because it is all electromagical jiggery to me . Anyway, this means that the SMTP (the "send" settings) in your email client need to be changed from Orcon to Xtra to enable your emails to be sent .

We need to know when you are actually connected to Xtra and what email client you are using (Outlook or Outlook Express? Thunderbird?) . When we know these two details then we can help you change your SMTP settings . It is not difficult and only involves changing a couple of lines in the settings .

1349891 2013-07-26 10:15:00 You really should change to a Gmail account or any other ISP agnostic email system, rather than Xtra. Now's a pretty good time to do it.

I have 3 Gmail addresses as names to hide behind. The Orcon/xtra email adress is for "Proper" communications to show a real name in good faith. PJ

1349893 2013-07-26 10:32:00 Incidentaly. Telecom sent us a modem/router which we wers asked to use, so we did. n the side of it is a USB slot. What would one use this for? Thanks. PJ Poppa John (284)
1349894 2013-07-26 22:32:00 Check the manual to see what it can be used for. It will be used for a shared external drive and/or a shared printer. My Genius modem only supports a hard drive or USB stick bit some modems support either a drive or printer. linw (53)
1349895 2013-07-26 23:49:00 It works... most of the time...

I wish it was working this morning (xtra), downloads mail OK, connection timeout on send. It allways comes right if I wait long enough, I guess they need to add more hamsters to the wheel
