1327073 2013-02-08 22:45:00 I don't think anybody would buy them to play but just as collectables

Probably wouldn't be able to even if they tried, a lot of those games \ consoles probably have backup batteries in them that will have leaked everywhere :(

To think what the price the guy was wanting you could buy a house with.

1327075 2013-02-09 05:49:00 You can't go back, it's fun in your mind, but in reality games have moved on and it's quite sad actually playing them now. It's not the same at all.

Couldn't agree more. I've tried playing many games from when I was younger, The Sims 1, Road & Track-The Need For Speed:SE, Microprose Grand Prix 2 etc.... But they just don't have the same feeling and funness to them. It's fun when I think of them in my mind and how I played them for hours, but when It comes to actually playing them, it's quite sad really.

1327076 2013-02-09 06:43:00 Might depend how he bought those games, i.e. for a approved seller, e.g. as a supplier/wholesaler. I recall Microsoft and eBay cracked down on pc vendors who were selling software on eBay surplus to their hardware. kahawai chaser (3545)

I know what you mean...
I used to love Need For Speed: SE. I also loved to play motocross madness 2.
Not the same as it used to be...

1327078 2013-02-11 04:33:00 I find some old games playable. Sim City 2000, AOE 1/2, Crash Team Racing and/or Mario Kart 64 are still very playable imo (they're the first games that came to mind). icow (15313)
1327079 2013-02-11 09:23:00 Personally I think it's ridiculous the value some people put on old stuff just because it's become rare. Do I think an original print of a comic is worth more than a modern reprint? no not really - it's the same content.
Vintage games are rare simply because almost nobody bothered to keep them when better games came along, that doesn't make them worth a fortune just because some people are nostalgic and have too much money to waste.
I wouldn't be surprised if the original code still exists somewhere and the companies who own it could re release them if there was a demand, but there isn't. I've tried replaying old classics with emulators, it's fun for an hour or two and that's about it.
