The amount of caching the ISP does of international traffic can make a difference.

1326758 2013-02-07 04:40:00 I am doing this as my international speed with Orcon is in the toilet and they seem unable or unwilling to fix it.

Had similar issues recently with packet loss and terrible speeds.

Lodge a formal complaint with them about it, in writing, then lodge it with the TDR and get the ball rolling.

Orcon have turned to absolute *custard* in the last 9 months and show now signs of improving :(
