1327201 2013-02-09 07:30:00 Would anyone have the above?? If you do, could I get a copy of the discs?? Got one here, the person dropped it. And the hdd is dead. Can you let me know. Thanks :)

Tried to ask HP the other day how much would a replacement hdd cost. Went to 4-5 different depts, in the end I gave up lol. So, I'll just buy any hdd around 320 GB +

1327202 2013-02-09 08:02:00 You might be in luck speedy, the missus had one of those (darned awful thing!) Is it XP? I think she might still have it (and the documentation/CD's)... just wondering though, why not just install a nice clean copy of 7/XP and be done with it? Surely that would be easier.... or am I missing something :p

I'll check with her, if so I'll send the disks up ASAP.

1327203 2013-02-09 08:12:00 when you drop them the hdd can slide of its connection, i fixed one like that all it needed was the hdd reseating to fix it, yours could be like that unless of course yoxu have pulled the drive and tested it gary67 (56)
1327204 2013-02-09 09:12:00 I think it had win7 32 bit not sure. Wont take 64 bit. It doesnt support it.

Since when it got here it was DOA lol. But its got a Win7 sticker on it? So, maybe Win7. I pushed it in as far as I could still no go. Connected it to the desktop too. It hung on detecting it. Wouldnt go any further. Easeus data recovery found it, but there were no files on it worth recovering. And you cant format it. Tried that trick with Dban got so far the bloody thing started beeping at me lol.

I could install Win7 if I had one spare. But I dont. I've only got my copy and 1 key. Guess I could install XP Pro. Just have to wait for someone to pay for the hdd (and it wont be me) lol

And tested it from within the BIOS it comes up with hard disk full (303) which according to Google its dead / failing

1327207 2013-02-10 00:18:00 Hers was XP sorry The Error Guy (14052)
1327208 2013-02-10 01:04:00 No probs. Well just have to wait for a hdd now. Hopefully it'll be OK! I dont think the dropping, was the cause of the hdd failing / dying.. I think it was failing already. A few programs I tried said it was old / failing. I dont know how old it is / was... Speedy Gonzales (78)
1327209 2013-02-10 01:22:00 I have a 110-3138TU which has Win7 Starter (32bit).
Are you sure it it is 311-xxxx etc?

You should find the COA inside the bottom cover, take the battery out and move the orange lever you see to partly unclip the base, then carefully separate the bottom cover.

I would think that a copy of the recovery disks may not be much good to you as my copy would have the COA/activation built in, wouldn't it?

This may be helpful

1327210 2013-02-10 02:32:00 Yup The sticker which shows the serial / product / warranty and Model is clear. The model is definitely HP Mini 311-1110TU. The COA is under this. Which has faded / not readable

Here's the sticker / COA

YUp, I think the recovery discs depend on the model and the version of windows that was installed
