| 1326483 | 2013-02-04 05:34:00 | City Council taxes: NZ vs. California I did a comparison of City Council rates versus California's property taxes. I live near Johnsonville Wellington in joint ownership, "Unit Title", not freehold. I pay 1.9%. California is usually around 1.1%. Legally in California, it can be no more than 2%, thanks to a citizen proposition the people passed (not the politicians) en.wikipedia.org (http:) There is some critiques of proposition 13, but perhaps we could draft something even better. |

| 1326484 | 2013-02-04 05:53:00 | We need some citizen propositions here in NZ to stop the local body politicians from spending up large on unnecessary expenditure. Like how many times do you need to reseal a road with crappy chip or repaint the road markings with cheap paint or put sped humps on every road that could be considered a short cut etc etc... A lot of the work I see bing done around Auckland seems just an excuse to keep the local contractors in jobs. | paulw (1826) | ||
