191676 2003-11-13 11:46:00 I recently sent my RTA300 ADSL router away for warranty repair for a faulty on/off switch, when it arrived at repairer it was replaced by a new one.when I went to set it up the browser setup page was different to look at with extra options and headed up as wireless ADSL router,I called Dynalink and was asked to supply sno off sticker and was told,by mistake they had supplied a wireless router with RTA300 stickers on it and happy christmas was his parting comment.
I don't have a book for the wireless so I want to see if anybody has a RTA300W and can prove it will work before I buy some goodies to go with it.
I have downloaded the setup supplement from their web site but cant find anything under the cofig,WLAN, basic setup,if I select this option all I get is no any Lan card plug in.
I guess it may be too good to be true and something is missing to use wireless network.
any help,
John.

191679 2003-11-13 19:48:00 I have one. If you have a green light which is labelled "WLAN" then you have been given a RTA300W.

User and password defaults are "admin / admin."

191680 2003-11-13 20:06:00 Lohsing,
Is the light the one above the DSL light ( my router has no label for this light ) and if so dose it need to be turned on in setup or is it on straight out of the box,
Thanks john.

191681 2003-11-13 20:25:00 On straight out of the box. Lohsing (219)
191682 2003-11-13 20:48:00 Thanks for your help,
Its a bit cheeky but I rang Dynalink and they told me I cant be sure unless I try to hook up a wireless connection to another pc,would your LAN light be on if no other PC was set up to connect to the RTA300W,in other words is it a ready light or a network up and running light.
I hope this makes sense,I am trying to find out how yours would look out of the box not connected to any receiving PC.

191683 2003-11-13 21:09:00 Hi, ok here’s one way to test it, what most people don’t know is the so called RTA300 (non wireless) is actually an RTA300u, I assume you are using the straight out of the box setup? If so then your ADSL Control Panel > Configuration > LAN > DHCP SERVER page should list the Domain name as 'lan'.

If this is correct then simply goto rta300u.lan in your web browser and if the ADSL control panel comes up then you have a NON-Wireless version, if nothing comes up try going to rta300w.lan (implying a wireless version).

If none of the above work, the you can (if you want to) goto ADSL Control Panel > System > Backup Configuration, save the "MyConfiguration.conf" file on you PC and email it to me, I can tell you what model you have by simply looking at that file.

Cheers

John - Whereabouts are you situated? Are you in Auckland? No problems me bringing around my laptop with WLAN card in it to check .
