| 191524 | 2003-11-13 06:15:00 | A friend of mine is having problems connecting to the internet, here is how she describes it: "As soon as I press connect, there is a loud sound of static and the modem never connects. Sometimes it doesn't even get to dial but cuts out after a couple of seconds of static. This happens with both ISPs on my computer." She uses Windows ME, has an internal modem and the two ISPs are Paradise and Slingshot. Any help would be very much appreciated. |

Note that the cord will often be different from those used on a phone, often different cores are used. If that doesn't fix it, then its either a faulty modem, or the driver software for the modem is corrupt. More likely the modem, given the "static" description. As it happens on two ISP settings, its most likely the hardware or software involved. |
