191459 2003-11-13 01:41:00 Hi Everyone

I am considering purchase of the brother MFC-3100C, (printer, fax, copier, scanner and pc fax). Quite impressed with the apparent capabilities and they are now at a very good price. but wonder about the cost of consumables? Is it possible to refill cartridges; buy refills or do you have to buy the real thing? Not much point in buying cheap if it is going to cost a bomb to use,eh!
Does anyone have any comments.
Thanks in advance

191460 2003-11-13 01:59:00 What Windows operating system are you using?

From memory, not all functions of that MFC are supported in Windows XP.
It may be limited as to functionalty (lower resolution, no OCR etc in scanning). Explains the low price?

As a general rule, all inkjets are expensive to run, and refilling is more an art than a science if you want reliability and quality of output. Don't count on it as a basis for purchase, but as a bonus if it works.
