2003-11-13 21:31:00 | Hi all. Just a quik Question. On XP's taskbr - there is usually a desktop icon that minimizes everything and goes to the desktop - i accidentally deleted this, and now i can't get it bak. I tried making a shortcut and putting it there - but it just opened up a window. I aslo tried reseting the taskbar - but it comes bak without the desktop item. How can i get it back? Or if someone can paste in the target of it (by rite clikcing - going properties) but this mite not work? Thanks

2003-11-13 21:39:00 | fergie, Have a look at the following MS article Show_desktop_Icon (support.microsoft.com) Effectively it is along the following lines: If the Show Desktop icon is deleted from Quick Launch, the procedure below will recreate the file. Open Notepad and enter the following text: [Shell] Command=2 IconFile=explorer.exe,3 [Taskbar] Command=ToggleDesktop Save the new file as Show Desktop.scf then drag and drop the icon on the Quick Launch bar or whatever location you want the shortcut to appear. Cheers, Babe.

2003-11-13 21:40:00 | Usually the easiest way is to get someone to upload it to a server and download it. I'm using Windows 98, but the funcitonality should be the same... try agent.orcon.net.nz or agent.orcon.net.nz Personally I can't download it, but I'm not sure why, and Cyberchuck can, so...

2003-11-13 21:43:00 | [Shell] Command=2 IconFile=explorer.exe,3 [Taskbar] Command=ToggleDesktop My understanding is that dot pitch is better if it's closer to 0, so 0.13 will be better than 0.15, for example. Flat screen CRTs reduce glare, etc, and are better than normal CRTs. I think there was a thread recently on AOC monitors, and it was concluded they were fine.

2003-11-14 00:22:00 | The problem with Win+M is that it doesn't work on all windows - only those that can be minimised. To show the desktop, you use Win+D. Both work, but if you have a non-minimisable window open, Win+M will leave it showing.
