191944 2003-11-14 21:07:00 You don't pay $10 for unlimited texting. The correct wording is "pay no more than $10".

For instance, if in a calendar month you sent 200 txt messages @ 20c each normally that would cost $20, but would in fact only cost $10. However if you only sent 10 txt messages you would only be charged $2.

191945 2003-11-14 22:39:00 last billing month i sent 799 txts....well i'm deaf so more txts lol and some were to the rugby world cup poll questions so all i paid was around $16 or something...

but yeah if u texted less than $10 worth then you pay that cost but if over $10 worth of texts then all you pay is $10...

hope your not confused nemore :-)

am glad the estimate is december 2004....

191946 2003-11-14 22:51:00 Hehe... Another mass-txt'er

I was going through $140 - $160 on Vodafone a month on a Pre-paid plan.

Now I send a good 1200 txt's a month (only been with them for two months), due to the fact Im not quite as concerned about the cost ;-)

I figure in two months what Ive saved has covered the cost of buying the new phone, and a years credit for my 027 :-)

191947 2003-11-14 22:58:00 hehe yeah i normally go thru $40 every 5 days lol...sometimes longer if i dont text neone....
but now...$10 a month who cares how many texts u send lol

i've been wanting to try break a 2000txt mark but that means i;d have to send a few texts just to annoy someone lol...

yeah 799 txts thats $159.80 just about there for a new phone...

isnt telecom worried about losing profit? as obviously if they only getting $10 from me...then they losing $149.80..
i know they would have alot more customers with this promotion..but still...

and if your sending 1200 txts thats $240...meaning telecom wont get $230 off you...

i also haveta admit this is kinda bad in a way, we'd soon be text addicts if not already....and it'd be hard controlling getting back down to the normal $20-30 a week after this, so please god make this permanant and save me the struggle...

191948 2003-11-14 23:04:00 Yeah but in reality its not costing them much at all.. just a little bit of time to transfer your txt on their network to wherever....

So they're making an extra $10 off you they wouldnt have if you were with Vodafone...!

Its a great medium though, cheaper than a call... :-)

Long live $10 txting!

191949 2003-11-14 23:18:00 i'm kinda surprised vodafone hasnt fought back....
they doing that IOU thing but thats nothing compared to $10 unlimited...
even if vodafone has more customers they should fight back if telecom is luring customers like me, u....and many others

191950 2003-11-14 23:20:00 I'm not sure how many texts I send per month. Don't think it is anywhere near as much as what you lot send. The majority of my sent/received all follow a similar pattern though.

"When BK?"
"Now BK"
"I'm at BK"
"Not soon BK, now BK, damn it"
"I've got the round table"
"I'm just on my way to BK"
"mmm BK"
"Where are you?"
"I'm in room..."

191952 2003-11-14 23:30:00 Nice one JM..

Mine are usually full txt's (160 Chars), I just cant be bothered with txts like that.. when you send around 1.2k a month, you sorta start looking for ways to avoid sending small txt's :p

191953 2003-11-14 23:35:00 lol sometimes i even send texts saying "lol" or "k"
