| 192556 | 2003-11-16 23:28:00 | So why are some threads completely readable without scrolling left to right and others disappear off the right hand side screen? | Winston001 (3612) | ||
| 192557 | 2003-11-16 23:38:00 | When someone uses the [ pre ] tags, it does not word wrap. Thats the purpose of the tags, to give the correct format for code, etc. If they are very naughty, they forget to include manual returns, and the width for the entire thread is affected. Slow day in the law office today? |

| 192558 | 2003-11-16 23:43:00 | Most threads are readable without having to scroll because the forum will automatically word wrap the message after so many words so that it's displayable without having to scroll... However, you find you'll end up scrolling when someone uses the (pre) formatting tags which result in text Looking like this. What this does is it tells the forum that code follows and not to word wrap the text (because there'd be problems when people enter code for someone else to debug). This will cause scrolling left to right if the length of one of the lines of code exceeds width of the page. The other time is people typing up a post in Notepad or something, using the Pre tags and not formatting the text so you have one really really really long line for a post instead of several lines of it been word wrapped. |
