And just wondering, > how many tests does it run before it finishes? It does about 11 or 12 seperate tests and then goes through them again until you tell it to stop. The best thing is to leave it running overnight to do a burn in test and if no errors after that then you should be right. It also tells you the number of passes it has done. ie the times it has done all the tests. Judging by your later message I would suggest the ram or motherboard. Have you tried putting the ram into DDR333 speed via the BIOS and seeing what that does. Made mine more stable. I had to drop mine down to DDR333, Increase the DIMM voltage +0.3, and change the ram timing slightly to get my machine stable until my new motherboard and memory arrives. |

| 192343 | 2003-11-17 06:53:00 | Well, Big John I'll try that, I know how to set the DDR from 400 to 333 but I dont really know what DIMM voltage I should set it to and the ram timing... :( Thanks Jase Sen |

| 192344 | 2003-11-18 01:44:00 | Well, I just ran Memtest386 for 5 hrs . . . and it frozed after an hour and 30mins into the testing >_< . . . . Just wondering, so even m/b that supports DDR400 can have problems supporting DDR400? How odd . DDR400 isn't a very new thing is it? Thanks Jase Sen |

| 192345 | 2003-11-18 06:55:00 | Jase1 what is the brand of memory you are using? its not Geil is it? DIMM voltage should be set to AUTO in the BIOS but if u want to maually set it it should be at 2.6v i think(although its generally pretty safe up to 2.9v). What ram timings you can run will depend on what brand of RAM it is. | Pete O'Neil (250) | ||

After that time it would have done a number of passes . If it did not show any errors at all before it froze then maybe you have a heat problem and the CPU is getting overheated when it is running full speed . Memtest386 does put quite a bit of load on the CPU as does 99 . 9% of games . This would mean while doing normal things the CPU is cool enough but under load getting too hot . > Just wondering, so even m/b that supports DDR400 can > have problems supporting DDR400? How odd . DDR400 > isn't a very new thing is it? Sure can . As I said mine is suppose to support it as well but have tried 2 different brands of memory and both will not run at DDR400 . |

| 192348 | 2003-11-19 10:27:00 | Well, before it froze it passed 14 tests and no errors . Hmm, could be heat huh? . . . I do leave one side of my case off and my room was opened, so cool air can flow in . . . . . Should I take it back to QMB is to have everything check out again, its still under the warranty . Thanks Jase Sen |
