192705 2003-11-17 08:34:00 I downloaded Firebird and Thunderbird from Mozilla.org... extracted the files. Tried running the executables on Windows 98.

For both applications, upon launching the application, Kerio alerts me a program is starting, and I allow it. However, nothing further happens. If I press Ctrl+Alt+Del, it shows the application as running, but there is otherwise no sign of it running. No window, nothing on the taskbar, etc. Trying to delete the folder (since I can't make use of it) simply results in "Access Denied... file in use", and will require a reboot (or killing the app using Task Manager) before I can delete it.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Does it happen if you run one app at a time?

192707 2003-11-17 08:43:00 It doesn't matter.

Does it for both of them, irrespective of when I run them.

192708 2003-11-17 10:20:00 Do you have any other mozilla.org apps installed?

If you have had previous versions installed, try cleaning out left overs in \WINDOWS\APPLICATION DATA.

192710 2003-11-17 21:23:00 Then no I have'nt had the problem. I run both on windows 98 and OS/2 with no major hiccups. mark.p (383)
192711 2003-11-17 22:12:00 Do your other downloaded programs end up working OK? -=JM=- (16)
192712 2003-11-17 22:19:00 You could give Mozilla a try as well to see what happens. It icorperates both the browser,e-mail and a few other goodies. mark.p (383)
192713 2003-11-18 00:45:00 Every single other download I do works perfectly (unless it corrupts). The archives didn't say anything about being inexplicably cut-off or anything, so I doubt the downloads were corrupted.

Still, I have yet to try them on XP...

Nope, it works perfectly in XP. Aside from the multitude of firewall alerts (I'm pretty darned sure Mozilla caused far more than IE did before I made a rule for it).

192714 2003-11-18 00:57:00 Try this-surf the internet for 1/2 an hour using IE than run adaware. Delete the crap picked up.
Do the same with Mozilla and compare the results.........
