| 192601 | 2003-11-17 03:48:00 | I am trying to set up a winModem on my Compaq Armada 1750 and I need to run kppp, I have located it, it's in /usr/share/bin, but when I try to run it I get the error message, "permision denied". I have tried running it as root, using chmod to give full permissions - it still won't work. Anyone know what I may be doing wrong? Cheers |

| 192602 | 2003-11-17 04:15:00 | Permission denied can be all sorts of things ... kppp should have the proper permission set when it was installed. Make sure it has got "x" . It might be not kppp's permissions ... it might be the modem. :D If /dev/modem has not been set up properly (it's a symbolic link) that could be dificult. By default, it will probably be root only. There are a number of web pages with full instructions on how to make it available to "users" --- I'm pretty sure we've had links here --- so a quick google for "kppp permissions" should get you going. |
