192611 2003-11-17 03:25:00 Hello Everybody,
Has anybody here had any experience with NAPA products. I was looking for a cheap MP3 Player (under $200). I dont mind if it plays mp3 cds or flash mem storage. I came accross the NAPA dav398 mp3 player with ID3 tag info and FM tuner for about $200, anyway I was just wondering what their products are like. Or if anyone has any other recommendations,
Thanks

192612 2003-11-17 06:41:00 Go for an Apacer mp3 player. Called an Audio Steno, they have 128 meg of ram, good set of of onboard controls, decent sound output, great battery life, and have a secure digital slot for expansion. Encoded at 128 bit you get about 30-35 songs. Also does voice recording (about 7 hours worth) No FM tuner and marginal earphones. Never heard of Napa but saw a review on a similar device which was positive except for the tuner which was a dead loss. The Apacer sells for 170 bucks. I have an earlier model Apacer and its very reliable and does dual service as a flash drive. Any decent computer shop can order one. See review on

www.dansdata.com for apacer a.k.a. george

and what i suspect is the napa or the clone of napa

192613 2003-11-17 07:38:00 Dunno about the NAPA personally... heard good things though.

I have a Diva Player (www.mydivaplayer.com) and couldn't be happier with it - price for performance they are fantastic machines, and double as portable USB storage, and voice recording.

Battery life of about 12 hours on a good quality AA, however I built a power supply so it's powered off the car :D

I imported mine direct to save some $$, however Global Junxion (http://www.globaljunxion.co.nz/) have that player, and a range of others at a reasonable price.

192614 2003-11-18 20:20:00 Yeah I found a creative LX100 128meg MP3 player for about $250 that has a FM tuner (which is actually quite important to me). The reviews around say that it is quite big, but the size is not a problem. I just wanted a player that has decent sound quality and that is not rubbish. Has anyone had any experience with this player?
And what about getting new batteries, are thay easily accessible because some NZ reports say that the batteries for some particular players are hard to locate.

192615 2003-11-18 20:26:00 seems like a lot of money to carry around a few songs,If it was me id just buy a disc player that reads mp3 cd's.

its what i have in my wagon and is the most cost efective way to do it.

I just burn myself a new cd every couple of months,it takes a while to get tired of 120 odd songs.

192616 2003-11-19 21:45:00 I think thats what ill do, I would be able to carry around 700MB of mp3s compared to 128MB of the LX100. Thanks for the help guys jasezone (1567)
192617 2003-11-19 23:05:00 I'm getting a Creative Nomad Zen NX 20gb one next week, although its a bit bigger than the flash based drives, its still smaller than a CD player and can carry a hell of a lot more music... its $415 + gst so its not much more than a decent 128mb one...
