| 192867 | 2003-11-18 08:37:00 | Ok, my computer crashes a couple of times a day. WinXP Pro Athlon XP 2100 1024mb Ram Geforce 4 Ti Crashes while playing games and DVD's mostly I think. Updated the graphics drivers, which didnt fix it. I looked it Dr Watson, and it said a few things about the fault being eax. I have a Creative Audugy soundcard, maybe it is that? Ask questions, and I will try answer. |

| 192871 | 2003-11-18 09:35:00 | Have you tried to update the sound card drivers as EAX is related to sound cards. But like JohnD said check to make sure that your CPU heatsink/fan is working and your system is not overheating, also if your graphics cards has a fan check to see if this is working. You could have a bad stick of memory try removing one and running the applications with each stick. Are you using the latest version of Direct X try upgrading to this. |

What these do is run and then pick up any abnormal faults or other things of interest that could be upsetting your machine. You can start with Dr Watson which is included with every version of Windows from 95 IIRC, but there's a really really good one and I can't remember the name of it now. It's free and practically runs as a system service in the status bar of your PC then just quietly logs everything that it notices.. Has been mentioned in PCW/PF1 several times |

| 192875 | 2003-11-18 19:27:00 | MSI 6380 for motherboard. I have had the whole thing into get fixed not long ago. pressf1.pcworld.co.nz Read there for details. I think I will try updating sound drivers first, as they have not been updated since we got the computer. I looked on AIDA32, and it says I have a creative audigy sound card, and somewhere else it said SB audigy card. So it could be a soundblaster audigy maybe? Where would I find frivers for this? |
