| 193376 | 2003-11-20 12:03:00 | My CPU seems to be working overtime (Kernel processor usage is recorded as 100%). I am running Windows Me on a Pentium II 350mH. When I checked the system using the System Tools I find that the IRQ Holder for PCI Steering is listed as a problem device (error code 22). When I check Running Tasks under Software Environment I find kernel32.dll listed 3 times. Does this matter or mean anything? Any ideas? |

| 193378 | 2003-11-22 00:03:00 | Have you changed any devices or hardware configuration lately? See MS KB (support.microsoft.com) article on PCI steering. For the cpu usage, is your antvirus up to date and have you checked for malware lately with say, SpyBot S&D (www.safer-networking.org). Nasties aren't the only thing that will bump your cpu usage but are a common cause. Some viruses, trojans and malware hijack or spoof kernel32.dll which is a vital windows component. Have a look at the virus/spyware issue first as it may solve your devices problem as well. Cheers Murray P |
