193291 2003-11-20 07:18:00 Has anyone tried to change the default setting on this programme? The default is "Mark as Spam & allow thro" but I want the "Delete before it gets to me" option, item No3 on their list. PJ Poppa John (284)
193292 2003-11-20 07:25:00 Yes PJ
And your problem is what, exactly?

Just select it and apply, works fine for me (though I would never take that option, as many real e-mails could be wrongly assessed)

193293 2003-11-20 07:29:00 You are pressing the "submit" button after making the changes I assume? godfather (25)

193295 2003-11-20 07:38:00 GF. I am not even getting to the "Options" page. I am on Outlook Express, but the Spam page is talking about Web Mail. I do the login & password, get another window, with not a lot of info on it. I take your point re wrongly marked e-m's, but would still like to see the options. PJ Poppa John (284)
193296 2003-11-20 08:08:00 When you get to "the page with not a lot on it", there is a menu on the left, lower of centre.

Anti Spam Filter is the top choice.

What happens if you click on it?

Thats fine.

Your mail will have some text added by Xtra in the header, with the word SPAM in it if the filter thinks its spam. Then you can (if you want to) set filters up in your e-mail program to process it as you decide.

I use Eudora for all e-mail and it has a built in spam filter, but I get so little spam its not worth worrying bout.

193298 2003-11-20 08:17:00 thanxs Goddie, as i already have mailwasher as well it seems a little over the top to have it all as such.
havent noticed any other extra Xtra bits in my emails as of yet though.

193299 2003-11-20 08:29:00 GF. On that page. It appears to be refering to Xtra Webmail, which we have not got, & not OE. There is no menu on that page. The header is "" xtramail "" The box under that has the LOGOFF logo in it. Th next box has Email Services in it. Both otherwise empty. PJ Poppa John (284)
193300 2003-11-20 08:49:00 You do have webmail (xtramail) if you have xtra as your ISP. Everyone has by default.

This has nothing whatever to do with OE. OE is the program you choose to use to collect your email from xtra. You choose to use it, there are many you could use, that has nothing to do with the Xtra Spam Filter.

The Webmail Xtramail interface is just another way to collect your email.

Think of it like this:
You provide a letterbox for the postie. In your case thats OE
You could visit the Post Office and ask for your mail over the counter. Thats WebMail. (True NZ Post dont do that now, they used to years ago, but its just an analogy)

Are you saying there is nothing under Email Services? Thats where the Spam Filter link should be?
