193086 2003-11-19 07:23:00 Is there anywhere in NZ that I can possibly buy a mike.ywamcentral.com AGP Motherboard[/url]?

I've never seen one before, but I'd like to get one.

Mike.

193087 2003-11-19 07:32:00 Picture looks like a dual CPU - Dual everything? - 2 Mobos in 1.

The experts from the Linux world say:

"AGP is very tightly coupled with the main memory controller chip so it is unlikely that there will be any dual AGP motherboard until one of the big semi manufacturers puts that feature in a core chipset"

193088 2003-11-19 08:38:00 is there any particular reason you want one?

dual head video cards are dirt cheap now if all you need to do is run 2x monitors (my radeon 9000 pro was $120)

The way I see it is that a dual-head card is halving the output as it has to split the processing to two ports. Having two cards would mean they each process to one port, so you'd get better results.

193090 2003-11-19 10:06:00 The cheapest option would be a single high end card (eg r9700) which would hopefully have more than enough power to handle 2048x768, etc.

I just had a quick look on tyan website and they don't make any dual agp boards. What about AGP + PCI-X?

193091 2003-11-19 10:14:00 There has to be a couple round, like the high end workstation boards that have dual processors and a couple of Quadro FX's. I remember reading something about them at the Nvidia site.

Would definitely be cool to have one, but it is kinda overkill.

193092 2003-11-19 12:10:00 LOL
how old is that pic?
look at those slots on the board (ISA or expantions?)
and what is the board doing upside down? all new boards are placed on the right side of the case
if you ask me that is an old server with old parts, monitor and expantion slots
LOL

193093 2003-11-19 19:07:00 Looks to me like 1) the case is upside down, 2) the board has PCI Express slots (so it's fairly new). Monitor is fairly old, but you don't need a very flashy monitor attached to a server.

It's definitely a new server with new parts, etc.

193094 2003-11-19 21:35:00 IIRC "madison" is the code name for one of intels itanic (64bit) chips so it is rather new. bmason (508)
193095 2003-11-19 23:05:00 That board looks to be a dual Xeon board from the CPU size. It would be a very expensive way to get 2 AGP slots.

There is something available that might give you something similar and that is the AGP "ATI All in Wonder" series of radeon cards which have dual monitor capability on the card.
