193688 2003-11-21 20:53:00 RE my earlier query - how do you format c drive using Windows ME.
The dos prompt uses Windows and therefore cannot be done from there. So how do you get the REAL dos prompt and not the Windows version?
Thanks
Tim

193689 2003-11-21 21:09:00 Visit here (www.bootdisk.com) and download a bootdisk. By opening this file after download, will make a "bootdisk" on a floppy you will put in your A drive.
Leave the disk in after it has been made, and restart your computer. It will boot up to a menu, choose "star computer with cd support".
You will now be left with a a:\> thingy. (Please note the last couple of paragraphs above the "thingy" for later, as it tells you which letter it has allocated for your CD drive, probably E)
Type in FORMAT C: and enter. This will completely wipe your hard drive and prepare it for a new install of whatever flavour of Windows you desire. :)
If you have your ME CD in the drive, then at that "thingy", type (the letter allocated which was asked to remember above) eg E: and enter, now type setup and enter. You can follow your nose to install now.
Hope this helps.

193690 2003-11-21 21:39:00 You can make your own boot disk, go into 'Control panel- add remove programs' & click on the tab called 'startup disk' then create disk.
