| 193554 | 2003-11-21 18:45:00 | The files are stored in C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes. They have to follow a certain pattern to show up in the display properties. Like so: Themes │ Luna.theme │ Windows Classic.theme │ └───Luna │ luna.msstyles │ └───Shell ├───Homestead │ shellstyle.dll │ ├───Metallic │ shellstyle.dll │ └───NormalColor shellstyle.dll The .theme files are just way of storing more information, what visual style to use, sounds, mouse, etc. The real stuff is found on the "Appearance" tab of the display properties. For the visual style to work it needs to be in a folder in "themes" called the same name as the .msstyles. To use non-Microsoft themes though, you'll have to look into getting a new uxtheme.dll which has been meddled with to allow non-signed themes. |

| 193557 | 2003-11-23 19:05:00 | Have a look at StyleXP which will do what you want. I use it to look after & change my Desktop / Themes & Logons (XPHome) Window blinds is another Program which works well ~ can't mix them though. TGT Soft LLC Home: http://www.tgtsoft.com/ for styleXP. |
