| 193537 | 2003-11-21 01:05:00 | I have a PC with Windows ME. I wish to remove ME and load Windows 98. It wont load at the moment as it is older than the OS installed. How do i go about this. I don't mind losing any data from the ME days. Thanks Tim |

If you have a DOS prompt, you can type FORMAT C:. It may ask for a"label" ... if so, a "dir c:" will tell you what the label on the disk is. | Graham L (2) | ||

I only use ME & XP for Windows work. You can make a start floppy with your ME, and use that to Format your drive. Then boot it off the 98 CD and install. |

| 193544 | 2003-11-30 03:45:00 | It is possible to convert ME to start with Dos and load Windows later, but the problem was that the drive runs in 'unprotected' mode & took for ever to load Windows. I can also access Dos with a start-up floppy, but it is very convenient to half install 98 in a small partition containing all my Dos tools, e.g. 'Partition Magic' 'Disk Copy' 'Norton Ghost', Xdos' 'Boot Magic' config. By 1/2 install I mean that I have not bothered to set up the Windows as I only use the Dos. |
