| 193464 | 2003-11-20 21:20:00 | Hey, Little problem with a new PC I've just put together. In Win2k SP4 I have a mapped drive J: to \\server1\data and it works fine but if you wait about 5 mins it gets a red cross on it and then all my shortcuts to J: don't work straight away. Once I have clicked on a shortcut (getting an error) if I click on it again about 10secs later it will work again. And so on. It's like the network card is going into power saving mode but I have disabled this! If I change the mapped drive to use the IP address instead, \\10.10.1.1\data then this problem does not happen except a new problem arises. Some programs won't open a file when the shortcut points to an IP address. It says something about "This file is not on the local intranet or is not secure" Nobody else on the network has this problem and I have installed latest drivers for the network card. Anybody got any ideas?? |

Cant remember it for the life of me sorry, but have a wee search through PressF1 and Im sure it'll come up..! |
