| 193870 | 2003-11-22 10:52:00 | I look after our school's new Compaq nx9000 laptops (1 month old) and one of them is playing up. Appeared to be going fine but now the touchpad is not working. There is a little button just above the touchpad that you can use to click it off and on but the blue light reamins on (like its jammed) and the touchpad does not produce any mouse pointer on the screen. I have been abe to get around the computer using keyboard commands (but it takes ages!) I tried attaching an optical mouse but even after installation this did not work. I removed both versions of the mouse in the device manager thinking that the touchpad would reinstall itself when rebooting but it keeps trying to install a PS/2 mouse (unsuccesfully) Operating system Windows XP. I guess it will be back to the suppliers - but I was thinking that I might have been able to find a quicker solution. Any ideas? Thanks |

| 193871 | 2003-11-22 11:18:00 | A couple of things here: Try opening the Device Manager, and having a look at the Mouse and see if there's an Exclamation mark in a yellow triangle next to the device. If there is, let us know what that is. Next, try removing the device. Then go into Add/Remove Hardware and try and re-add it. Im pretty sure the nx9000 have drivers you can get form the compaq/hp website. Google for them and see if you can come up with anything, as updated drivers may help too. Hope this helps Chill. |
