193811 2003-11-22 04:47:00 Hi people,

Just brought my first digital camera (Kodak cx6230).

No probs with the camera, yet?

The software, (Kodak Easyshare), you have to install the software before downloading from the camera to the computer. Or possible problems can occur?

OK done that, but the software takes over all other photos on the HDD.
Managed to stop it loading as soon as you plug the camera in to the puter, but I don't see another software program that can download the images from the camera.

I have Image Forge3, Gimp, UleadPhoto Express 3.0SE, IrfanView.

Don't know much about Gimp.

Anyone had anything to do with this perticular camera and or software, any help at all please cause not sure yet but I think it may be the Easyshare software causing a couple of problems on the computer.

193812 2003-11-22 06:06:00 Most of the programs you mention should be able to download from the camera. Irfanview will download from my Canon for eg (File > Select Twain Source or Aquire). In the file menus look for: Import, Find source or Twian source, Aquire, Select source or Select device or anything similar to that wording. Window (Kodak) Imaging will do it too, Sart > Programs > Accessories > Imaging.

193813 2003-11-22 07:05:00 I have a little experience in these cameras, was dealing with a kodak one the other day not sure on the model but you can just use it without the software if you have win xp, just plug in the camera and turn it on. Windows then installs it as a removable disk where you can browse your photos in Irfanview or do whatever with them.

The software possibly helpful if your in unfamilair waters but otherwise use whatever programme you like to use personally.
