194335 2003-11-25 01:37:00 Have just installed NOD32 and on it`s maiden scan came up with the following message;
c:/pagefile.sys-error opening(file locked)[4]
File cannot be opened.It is being exclusively used by another application or operating system........then it shows the following;
c:/windows$NTUninstall Q315000$\ssdpsr.dll
" """"""" """""""""""papi.dll
""""""""" """"""""""netsetup.exe.
A couple more my pencil broke.
Does any one know what these refer to and should I be concerned?
Thanks.A

194336 2003-11-25 03:27:00 Looks like they are just in use. Nothing wrong with that.

That pagefile.sys is the swap file i think, but i dunno about the rest.

What version of NOD32 do you have?

194337 2003-11-26 01:24:00 Thanks Jblogs but that doesn`t really answer my query now does it. albatross (343)
194338 2003-11-26 02:37:00 Nod always comes up with the pagefile.sys (or win386.swp on win9x)
No that is not something to worry about
c:/windows$NTUninstall Q315000$\ssdpsr.dll have you done a windows update before the scan and not shut down?
typically NOD has [4] on some files if you have the programs open.
depending on your version that you downloaded/installed there are some settings that you should change.
**version one** with the three icons in the system tray (amon, nod32CC, pop3 for nod) double click on the nod32.exe shortcut on your desktop and click actions-> click on Clean and Clean, instead of the default of offer an action. then on setup -> Diagnostic methods click RUNTIME PACKERS and ARCHIVES

**version two** is pretty good straight out of the install.
will check this thread again after 5:ish tonight,
We are a NOD reseller so any queries just leave a message here and I will answer as best I can.
(Have you noticed how fast it scans the HD? and also check here (www.virusbtn.com) for a complete independent review of all antivirus products. (NOD is ESET software)

194339 2003-11-26 03:50:00 thanks for that info Wayne.That information has never been displayed by other programs that I had installed(spyware types that is) so I got curious enough to ask.The version I have is...version 1.563(20031125)NT.I`m guessing the numbers in brackets is the date .
Cheers

194340 2003-11-26 04:09:00 correct about the date, (Environment version: 1.047) gives you the version number, as in, version one with the 47th build of the program.
also you should notice that it gets updates no more than 4 days apart and let it do a full update because it updates the program as well not just the definitions. have been using/supplying for a year and a half, absolutely brilliant
(MODS PLEASE NOTE I HAVE TOLD ANY ONE WHERE I WORK and we are not the only reseller)
I used to be a strong believer in Symantec until I found the light and saw the error of my ways.

194341 2003-11-26 04:41:00 I started testing a number of spyware programs about 6 weeks before my Norton was due to be renewed.Admittedly there are some good ones about and most managed most tasks.I noticed some of the remarks about nod32 made by some of the peeps and had a closer look,and decided to give it a go.All I have to do now is get to know how to set it up for my needs.So thanks for the tip peeps and thanks for the information I required Wayne H.
Cheers to all

194342 2003-11-26 04:55:00 Ummm. So what exactly did wayne tell you that I didn't?

I answered your query.

You asked if there was anything to be concerned about.
I said its nothing to worry about.

Thats basically what wayne said, but more in depth.
