194215 2003-11-23 22:28:00 Just recently I have been receiving "Your message could not be delivered" messages from destinations and servers that I know nothing about. Any messages were certainly not sent consciously by me.

So, is this a new form of spam, trying to confirm my email address, a virus, or a trojan horse that is sending emails I know nothing about? My anti-virus is up to date, ad-aware doesn't pick up anything, and the Shields UP! website says I am secure.

Has anyone else had similar experiences, and has anyone any suggestions?

TIA.

What happed is that a Spamer has/is faking the "from" header in they Spam e-mail & they have put your e-mail address in there that is why you got that e-mail.

I Hope that makes sense & Hope this helps.

194217 2003-11-23 23:18:00 So has my email address been chosen deliberately, or is it just one of many random addresses that the spammer is using? And I guess there is nothing I can do about it - just a bunch more messages to go into the spam pile! My current spam count is 1657 spams received since 16 October - aaaaargh!

Thanks for the help.

194221 2003-11-24 01:12:00 Your e-mail has been deliberately harvested at some stage, and randomly used at another stage. godfather (25)
194222 2003-11-24 02:01:00 I hoppe you have a good anti-virus program. That message will turn up after a while with a virus.
I would suggest you just delete it without even opening it.

194224 2003-11-24 04:14:00 I use Norton Anti-Virus, and it is always up-to-date . I opened a couple of them when they first started arriving, but now it's straight to the spam folder .

Thanks everyone for the info - I'd suspected that what you've all said was indeed the case, but it is always nice to get it confirmed by experts!

Cheers .
