| 1351420 | 2013-08-16 07:42:00 | Further to my thread about signing up with Flip, I was supposed to be connected a few days ago. Flip helpdesk insisted that my line is good to go, but there's no dialtone. I phoned my new number, which appeared to ring, but of course no sound through my home phone. I've tried it on all 3 of the phone jacks in the house and nada. The phone works fine at my friend's house. Flip want to charge me $200+ IN ADVANCE to have a technician come to check my wiring! If the fault is outside the house then they'll refund me the money. If its discovered to be faulty inside then no refund. Bugger that. So... does anyone know who I can go to to have the problem checked... eg any electrician? |

Problem is, unless you've got a mate who can do it cheap or something, most qualified techs who can do it will be after $120 - $150 for a callout fee anyway, which you will not get back regardless of the issue. | 1351426 | 2013-08-17 02:01:00 | I've mentioned before electricians are not always the best option for phone wiring, some of them don't even know what's wrong with split pairs. If you see a chorus van in your area you could try and offer them some cash or something to do a homer, some of those guys are on codes and essentially working for themselves. |

You wouldn't buy a TV from Dick Smith and expect Noel Leeming to give you the refund when it's faulty ;) |
