1351079 2013-08-11 22:17:00 The Girlfriend's One V is getting a bit sluggish for her, wondering what you guys think would be the best value Android phone under $300 as a replacement?

Thanks. :)

1351080 2013-08-11 22:24:00 The One V is a low-to-mid-range phone which is still only *just* in the $300 range most of the time. It's not really helped by HTCs Sense UI, but I'd suggest she save another $200 and pick herself up a Nexus 4 from The Warehouse Stationery for $489.

Then, she'll be going from a single-core 1Ghz to a quad-core 1.5Ghz. From an 800x480 to a 1280x720 screen. From a sluggish UI (ICS isn't it?) to the latest smooth Jellybean experience...

She's going to have to throw a bit more than just $300 at it to get an upgrade. Alternatively, flash a custom ROM?

1351081 2013-08-11 23:06:00 Thanks Chill, that's what I suspected. Yes, ICS.

A custom ROM is an option for sure...last time I checked CyanogenMod was very buggy on the One V, so it might be worth re-visiting that.

I really like the One-V, it's just a little too slow is all. Great battery life, great camera, SD card slot...for the money, they are a nice phone, just need a little more grunt.

Edited - Looks like it's not officially supported, but there is a unofficial one that looks OK. Haven't rooted a Droid before...do you know of a good guide?

That was both in-store and online. Two mates of mine got them last week. One online, the other I went with into Albany store to pick it up :)

1351087 2013-08-13 07:19:00 That was for the 16GB ... The 8GB here is that price, or you can get the 16GB for just shy of $500:
