1327802 2013-02-13 03:10:00 Hi
Iv had separate quotes for the Mitsubishi GE 33 (4kw) and the Daikin 35 LVMA ( 4 kw)

Anyone have any knowledge on these brands or models? Recommendations?

Cheers

1327803 2013-02-13 03:15:00 Have had Daikin installed for several years now with no problems. Main split system compressor is connected to two units, with capacity for two more when and if required. I would be looking at bigger units than the ones you quote, unless you wish to heat/cool a very small area. Did the installing companies who quoted do an inspection first? Richard (739)
1327804 2013-02-13 03:18:00 We have a Fujitsu at home, and I know a few others that have the same brand, had it a few years so far and never had a problem with it so you might like to consider them. Iantech (16386)
1327805 2013-02-13 03:53:00 I have had a Daikin since 2004 with no problems. I think it is 4kw.

1327806 2013-02-13 04:01:00 Doing a compare on Consumer they score a 4kw Daikin at 83% and a 4kw Mitsi. 72% overall. Those are for the models that you mentioned.

1327807 2013-02-13 04:46:00 There are two companies making heat pumps under the Mitsubishi name. They are Mitsubishi Electrical, and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries I think. The MHI machines always seem to score better than the others. Might pay to bear this in mind. Richard (739)

1327809 2013-02-13 07:13:00 I've had a Daikin system since 2002 -4 room units and an outside unit. I have not been impressed with the reliability. One of the room units had a circuit board replaced under warranty, and another failed mechanically just outside warranty. It was a "known issue" but I still had to pay for most of the repair. The motherboard on the outside unit has been replaced once and had a kluge fixup as well. The outside unit has also been getting fairly rusty.

The IMO general control system methodology is also slightly weird. I would be unlikely to to buy another Daikin. One of the technicians who came to repair my stuff said that Mitsubishi were the most reliable.

1327810 2013-02-13 07:54:00 If I were you I would be looking at a bigger unit. It depends on how well your house is insulated eg double glazing. A bigger unit doesn't really mean it will cost more to run as most of the time it won't have to work as hard.
We got a Fujitsu and it has been very good but wish we had got a size up
