1327855 2013-02-19 05:06:00 Is it now worth considering SSD ? Cicero (40)
1327856 2013-02-19 06:13:00 Storage is still pretty limited Cic. We will need to hang on for another couple of years (if we can.) Richard (739)
1327857 2013-02-19 07:23:00 Its no big deal. How many of you are still driving model T's? The change is not that significant. If you can't work out most things in half an hour you should go back to paper and pencil.
Jesus am I sick of people talking about computers bringing cars into it. Brainless.

1327858 2013-02-19 08:17:00 Let's not bring jesus into it - there's enough chances for digital chicanery without invisible mentors being summoned. (Probably with a Madras accent these days.) R2x1 (4628)

1327860 2013-02-19 09:57:00 I've just used the Win 8 Promotion Code to upgrade my Win 7 and install Win 8 on my SSD.

I must say,, without the start menu its not that bad.

You get use to it.lol

1327861 2013-02-19 12:50:00 Yeah I felt the same, it's not that big of a change coz I *never* see the start launcher screen thingy... Then again I was also able to install Linux and quite happily use that too, coz most things I do these days are in the browser. I should really try Chromium OS again :D Chilling_Silence (9)
1327862 2013-02-23 06:09:00 Nice web site. Cicero (40)
1327863 2013-03-29 10:16:00 I did a clean install of Windows 8 in the prerelease version on an SSD (topic in a previous post). I installed it again once the OEM version was available. I don't have a touch screen on my desk top computer, and do not feel compelled to use one after months of use. I feel navigation around Windows 8 works very well with short cut keys, and you don't need to know that many. I don't feel that there is a steep learning curve with this operating system, and prefer the layout and speed over Windows 7. Installation was the most hassle free of any Windows operating system. Everything just worked. I did not need to install any motherboard or video card drivers, and all the components were new. I have built all my computers since my first 40 MHz 386 DX. The applications available are a bonus on top of everything else. mikelomb (17013)

You may find that you would still need to \ should install updated drivers for your video card at least.
