| 1327845 | 2013-02-18 09:28:00 | Someone uninstalled a lot of ASUS bloatware The majority of problems I've seen are with name brand PC's. Its all the damn junk they install. Remove all the sh1t - Much more stable and faster. Step 1 - REMOVE ALL NORTON software they install :D The INC, online backup, and theres one other --- the name evades me right at the moment. |

| 1327846 | 2013-02-18 20:53:00 | Lots more good comments, both in favour of and against Win8. So far I am tending to replace my XP operating system with a dual boot W7. However if I download the trial version of W8 will it have any effect on my XP system, or will I just have a trial OS with no programs in it. Where does it sit in my computer, and what will it do? | Richard (739) | ||

| 1327848 | 2013-02-18 22:17:00 | Gee thanks Cic. That will probably annoy CYAbro though, who is my local whiz. Have you switched to W8 yet? Or is it too much for your old brain as well as mine. |

I have 7 pro and I can't see point in changing at the moment. Have cancelled Wai, don't want to upset Cya. Not convinced 8 is better. Oh nice time to do an update to 21st century kit. |

| 1327851 | 2013-02-18 23:24:00 | Hi bk T Comp is i5 3470 3.2GHz 3.2GB ram. At present using Intel integrated graphics, but I have an Asus/Nvidia 9600GT card ready to install. I will check the drivers for Compatibility with W8. Still using XP Sp3 as I was put off Vista, and W7 was not a simple upgrade from XP. | Richard (739) | ||
| 1327852 | 2013-02-18 23:41:00 | Those Spec's should run W8 very nice :) I've got it running on Machines with a lot less than that and its stable and quick. If you wanted a duel boot, you would have to create a separate partition on the drive. If you only wanted to "play about " with it" as a trial, as BK t said - load onto another drive if you have one. |

| 1327853 | 2013-02-19 00:22:00 | I've been running Win8 Pro on my laptop since it was available on TechNet and that's the only reason why I am running it. Have to learn what I will be supporting. :) I wouldn't go out and buy it. Without a touchscreen I would stick with Windows 7. I don't even use the new Start screen on my Win8 because I find it a bit annoying without a touchscreen. Win8 does start up and shutdown a bit faster than Win7 did on my laptop but I do have an SSD so even with Win7 it was pretty quick. |

I have to admit that W8 starts and shuts faster than Win7 and of course with my new SSD it's even faster. Shutting down is only about 2~3 seconds. Probably that's why I am still hanging on to W8. |
